Embarkation (Day 1 — July 1)
- Train from Roma Termini → Civitavecchia (~70 min, €5–9), then free port shuttle to the cruise terminal
- Boarding opens ~11 AM, last boarding ~4 PM
- Do online web check-in before leaving Rome — saves 30+ minutes
- First meal aboard: Marketplace Buffet, Deck 15
- Mandatory safety drill in the afternoon
- Departure ~6 PM with a sail-away party on the upper deck
Port-by-port quick takes
- Palma de Mallorca — La Seu cathedral, old town, beach time. Easy walk from the cruise terminal.
- Barcelona — pick one of Sagrada Família, Park Güell, or Gothic Quarter + La Boqueria. Don't try all three.
- Cannes — small port, walkable old town (Le Suquet), the Croisette, the Palais des Festivals. Train to Antibes or Nice if you want more.
- Genoa — Old Port, Strada Nuova UNESCO palaces, focaccia everywhere. The aquarium is huge if you have kids.
- La Spezia — the gateway to Cinque Terre. Hop the regional train (~5 min to Riomaggiore) — see at least 2 of the 5 villages.
On-ship rhythm
- Breakfast: Marketplace Buffet is fastest; Main Dining Room is calmer
- Port days: book private guides (or just walk) instead of ship excursions — same experience, 30–50% cheaper
- Sea day (July 2): book Cirque du Soleil reservations on day 1; pool day; spa
- Dinner: Main Dining Room is reliable; one upcharge night at a specialty restaurant is worth it
- Drinks: decide on day 1 whether to buy the beverage package or pay per drink
- Wifi: overpriced — buy the full-cruise package on day 1 if at all
