Trevi Fountain

June 29, 2026

Trevi Fountain

The largest baroque fountain in Rome — completed 1762 by Salvi (and finished by Pannini after his death). Free to visit, always busy.

Visit notes (June 29)

  • Go early — before 8am or after 10pm to avoid the crush
  • The tradition: stand with your back to the fountain, hold a coin in your right hand, toss it over your left shoulder
    • One coin = you'll return to Rome
    • Two coins = romance with a Roman
    • Three coins = wedding bells
  • The coins are collected nightly and donated to charity
  • Don't wade in — there's a fine
